Client Overview

Old Square Chambers are an Advocacy Barristers Chambers in Bristol & London. Old Square has solid branding in place but needed a platform with greater functionality and a more robust and feature rich content management solution. Old Square Chambers are an Advocacy Barristers Chambers in Bristol & London.

The Mission

The existing website wasn’t broken, but it had clearly been stretched over time. As more content was added, things became harder to manage and harder to navigate. Information was there, but not always where you expected it to be. The brief was fairly straightforward: make the site easier to use, easier to update, and less frustrating for the people working on it every day. It wasn’t about changing how Old Square presents itself, just about making the website behave better.

Design

Old Square Chambers had a solid brand and identity, my role was to design a site that reflected the chambers but with a clear navigation, a user experience that allowed ease of use and allowed content to breathe without making content pages overwhelming. On brand, easy to use and clear.

Development

The site was built as a custom WordPress setup, with content structured around how Old Square actually operates rather than how WordPress works out of the box. Barristers, practice areas, news and events are all managed separately, but linked together properly so content can be reused instead of duplicated. The admin area was set up for non-technical users, because that’s who will manage day to day.

Outcome

Information is easier to find, content is simpler to manage, and the overall experience feels more consistent. Users can find the information or find the barrister who can help quickly. The custom functions such as PDF builders and instant PDF generators allows quick offline use too.
