The old site was a static HTML site which was dated and had no content management. It also had no eCommerce or payment options so the team were processing payments and orders manually. There was a lot of good content, but it wasn’t always obvious where to start or how different services related to each other. The new site had to have content management, eCommerce capabilities and structure all of the content in an easily digestible way.
The brand identity and website needed a complete refresh and something modern and more fitting to what Barkley offer. I created a new brand and identity to start. I kept layouts simple and focused on structure, using consistent page patterns so visitors don’t have to relearn how the site works as they move around. The idea was that once you’ve understood one section, the rest feels familiar.
The site was built on WordPress with a content structure that mirrors how Barkley actually operates. Training, certifications, consulting and insights are all treated as their own things, rather than being forced into generic pages.
The backend was designed for everyday use. Adding a new course, updating certification information or publishing an article shouldn’t feel like a technical task, so the CMS stays out of the way as much as possible.
The finished site makes Barkley’s work easier to understand and easier to manage. Visitors can find relevant services without digging, and the team can keep content up to date without issue.
Having a site with scalability and flexibility it allows Barkley to continue to grow their online presence. The time saved on the events and courses now they are automated allow the team to focus on their services rather than processing payments.
