Twenty Essex

Twenty Essex is a leading commercial team of barristers offering outstanding legal minds combined with modern and commercial disputes experience.

Client Overview

Twenty Essex is a commercial set of barristers working across multiple jurisdictions. The chambers has a strong international footprint and a wide spread of practice areas, which makes the website more than just a brochure. For a lot of people, it’s the starting point. They arrive looking for specific expertise, specific people, or something very particular, and they want to find it quickly.

The Mission

The existing site had grown over time and was starting to show it. Content was there, but navigating between practice areas, people and key sections became confusing. The brief wasn’t to reinvent anything. It was about making the site easier to use day to day, and putting a clearer structure around a lot of moving parts. Regular publishing also mattered, because news, cases and insights are part of how the chambers stays visible.

Design

Twenty Essex already had a strong and known brand in place. My job was to take that brand and de-clutter and improve the user experience and journey. Allow content to be easy to read and offer clear navigation and how to contact Twenty Essex.

Development

The site was built on WordPress with a custom content setup designed around how the chambers actually operates. Barristers, arbitrators, practice areas and insights all exist as their own content, but are linked together properly so information doesn’t need to be duplicated. A lot of time went into the admin side. Updating profiles or publishing new content needed to be simple despite much of the page and post types being linked together across the site.

Outcome

The finished site is quieter than before, but clearer. Information is easier to find, and the internal team can keep things up to date with ease. With clearly defined sections, practice areas and enhanced search functions the site has a greater conversion rate and the stronger user experience keeps people browsing and finding what they need.
