Urban K-9 is a dog training business based in Brooklyn, working with clients across New York City and nearby areas. The previous site offered some of what Urban K-9 needed but whilst some people come to them with a specific problem others come with a general interest in training. With varying needs the new site needed to cater for all.
The site needed to explain what Urban K-9 offers without turning it into a long list of programs. For example there are private sessions, group classes, day training, board and train amongst others. All of this content merged and overlapped and became hard to find clarity. The new site had to be clear and offer good information and have strong call to actions.
The design needed to be clear with obvious headings and content that’s easy to skim were more important than complex layouts where content gets lost. The site needed to feel straightforward and calm, especially for people who might already be feeling a bit overwhelmed.
The site was built on WordPress with a flexible structure for services, testimonials and FAQs. I wrote custom functions and used advanced custom fields to ensure training schedules and content were easy and quick to change for the team. Flexible management of the entire site was key.
The finished site makes it easier for people to understand what Urban K-9 does and how to get started. Visitors can find relevant training options, see real feedback from clients, and get in touch without jumping through hoops. Clear navigation and content in the correct place with strong call to actions help the user.
