YesDog

YesDog is a dog training service based in Liverpool, working mainly with local owners who need help with real, everyday behaviour issues. The focus is on welfare-first training rather than quick fixes.

The Mission

The site needed to explain what YesDog does without overloading people, Dog training is crowded and people are understandably cautious about who they trust. The previous site offered basic information, services and contact details but was becoming dated. YesDog have grown past that and needed the site to allow sales of self learning programs, a larger range of services and importantly show credibility.

Design

The design still had to have some design flair and make use of the great palette YesDog has. I focused on clear structure, readable content and obvious next steps. The site needed to work quickly for people scanning on their phone, often while distracted.

Development

The site was built on WordPress with a custom setup to handle services, self learning programs and events. I handled the frontend build, the WordPress build and wrote custom plugins where the default options didn’t quite fit. The admin side needed to be flexible without being complicated. If something changes, it should be easy to update and hard to break.

Outcome

The finished site explains YesDog clearly and gets out of the way. The clear navigation and strong call to actions allow visitors can work out what’s on offer and make contact without digging around. The custom plugin to offer self learning programs with online content, video learning, online classes and in person learning helps offer diverse programs for users.
